Santa Fe, On Film
Community films made with a local documentary maker, photographs from the places we insure, and the wildfire education our own fire department is putting in front of residents.
Neighbours, On the Record
Six short films made with Santa Fe documentary maker Bunee Tomlinson of Windswept Media, each built around one resident answering why they stay. Filmed under the agency's earlier name, Quezada Jacobs Family Agency.

What the Research Says About Your Defensible Space
The City of Santa Fe Fire Department partnered with the Wildfire Research Center (WiRē) to compare professional risk assessments against what residents believed about their own properties.
Most residents thought they were covered. The professionals disagreed.
WiRē is a non-profit that works with wildfire practitioners across the western United States to build locally tailored, evidence-based community wildfire education. Together with the Santa Fe Fire Department they ran two data collection efforts across the city.
The headline finding is uncomfortable and worth sitting with: most residents who responded to the survey reported having sufficient defensible space, while professionals rated very few of those same properties as actually having it.
That gap is exactly where insurance claims come from. It is also the easiest thing on this page to fix, and it costs nothing to find out which side of it you are on.
